AOA Apprentice Spotlight: Joslyn Maya “The Medicine Mama”

Remembering the matriarchal ways, tending the web of life.

A sanctuary opens each time we gather to honor the wisdom living in our bodies. At the Academy of Oracle Arts—a school of sacred sciences, mystical arts, and mystery studies—we meet at that threshold to awaken oracular consciousness and to practice a way of life rooted in service.

Meet Joslyn

“Hi loves! I’m Joslyn Maya, aka The Medicine Mama.”
Joslyn’s work is a living weave of Mayan Abdominal (Womb) Massage, Birth & Death Support, Herbalism, Somatic Coherence, Yoni Steam Support, Nourishing Meals, Herbal Remedies, Divination Readings, Womb Regressions, and Theta Healings. Guided by prayer and practice, she “makes room for people to support the cycles and body of women,” tending the thresholds where life begins, ends, and renews.

Her devotion is ancestral and embodied. Joslyn is Puerto Rican—Native Taíno, Guatemalan—Mayan roots, with Italian, Spanish, and Greek lineages interlaced. She describes her offerings as remembrance—“the ways my ancestors lived”—and a vow to help women reconnect with their wombs, the earth, and the rhythms that sustain families and community.

“This work is a way of life. Every day I practice embracing my own healing and womb‑cycle living so I can be a reflection of what is possible.”

The Call to Apprenticeship

What first drew Joslyn to our apprenticeship was a quiet certainty—a deep knowing that what she’d been seeking would meet her here. She felt a magnetic pull toward Tarot, spiritual protection, and the esoteric mythos of Magdala and Egypt—the very waters we, as a community, wade together when we speak of oracular perception as a fluid relationship with the Divine.

Becoming Through the Work

“On a personal level,” Joslyn shares, “this work reformatted the lens I see life through.”
She names a widening of language and presence—feeling more attuned to beings beyond the human, more trusting of her oracular body. Professionally, the apprenticeship braided her modalities into one current: “There is nothing in my offerings that doesn’t complement the rest.” What once felt like separate streams now run together with coherence and power.

Most of all, she trusts her medicine: “Pure magic pours from my sessions—and this academy helped me innerstand the tangible, living proof of magic that still exists in the world.”

This is the heart of our path at AOA: to remember that ancient technologies of ritual, divination, and devotion are not abstractions but living practices that harmonize will and surrender, help us hold strong yet flexible boundaries, and guide us in service to life.

Challenges as Initiation, Community as Teacher

Integration is its own pilgrimage. Without frequent one‑to‑one support, Joslyn learned to attune to the exact care her body and spirit needed as teachings began working at a cellular level. “Usually the ordeal into initiation is the hardest part,” she reflects—“sacrificing what no longer serves the next layer of the work.”

And community is real: sometimes tender, sometimes testing. There were moments that felt like returning to high school—group dynamics, differing perspectives—but here we practice shedding old skins and building family instead of cliques. The friction became medicine; the circle became home.

Teachers & Lineages of Love

Joslyn names Isis (teacher, guide, community member) as a central influence—“a library of knowledge, wisdom, and living proof of a beautiful human being.” She honors the dedication it takes to carry ancient wisdom with integrity and to pass it forward for students who seek truth. She also celebrates the “beautiful friends” who make the path worthwhile—mirrors of devotion who ensure this evolving family will last.

Why Her Work Matters

When women are held with reverence, everyone is uplifted—men, children, elders, land, and spirit. Through Joslyn’s care, clients report feeling more freedom, health, pleasure, and self‑trust. Births are tended with love; grief is welcomed as holy; bleed time is honored; nourishment returns to the table; mysteries once dismissed by systems now receive attention and healing.

This is the medicine of an oracular way of life made practical: a daily rhythm of ritual, relationship, and responsibility that we at AOA strive to cultivate together.

Wisdom for Future Apprentices

If you were standing in the doorway, about to step in, Joslyn would whisper:

  • Remember why you’re here. Let your prayers be clear—and aligned with benevolent forces.

  • Surrender to Mystery. These teachings re‑pattern perception; meet them with humility and awe.

  • Trust your body. Connect with your body to connect with the teachings.

  • Speak with the Oracle. Ask for clarity. Listen with your whole being.

  • Lean on good books and daily practice. Integration is devotion in motion.

  • Prioritize self‑care. You will meet your deepest shadows and brightest light. Embrace it all—you can hold it all.

This counsel echoes our shared ethos: mystical yet grounded, poetic yet practical, always inviting you to step into the circle of practice and service.
